2012 Pacific Populaire

April 1, 2012

Thanks so much to all who donated clothing, helmets and shoes.  The school is delighted and will make good use of everything.

A HUGE THANK YOU to all my volunteers – you are so good, I am practically redundant!

And to all the participants – good on you – coming out under adverse conditions to enjoy what turned out to be a marvellous day.  See you next year.

Greater Vancouver's first major public ride of the cycling season is the Pacific Populaire. Since its inception in 1986 the focus of this event has been to encourage participation by all cyclists regardless of fitness level, cycling experience, or age. For some, the ride is a challenge to turn in a fast time, a personal best, or to complete a greater distance than in a previous year. Others will be out for a relaxed spring ride, fresh air, and exercise.

Cycling Clothing Donations

The Pacific Populaire is accepting donations of “gently-used” cycling clothing, helmets, shoes, and bicycle accessories for a high school program where students fix up bicycles to use for transportation. No bicycle equipment thanks.

Please note – this year, we do not have access to the parking at Nat Bailey or Hillcrest Community Centre.  You are welcome to park on the street or at Queen Elizabeth Park (pay).  We will have marshalls at each of the entrances to Hillcrest parking to prevent any participants from using that parking.  Please co-operate – arrive early so you have plenty of time to find parking.  Carpooling will help.

Our registration and pre-registration package pick-up tables will be open from 7:30 onwards.
